The American Spirit is the embodiment of the spirits of American patriots who have died. It approached Bruce Carter III, the former Fighting Yank, in the year 2008, and confronted him over his actions of sixty years earlier. After reminding Bruce of what he did, the pair set out to locate The Green Lama and then the Urn of Pandora, the vessel in which Bruce had trapped most of the costumed heroes and heroines of America under the justification that it would help to finally defeat evil once and for all.
