Arkham Asylum was an insane asylum where Dr. Herbert West and Dr. Wilbur Whateley worked. Ash Williams was committed to the asylum after his arrest, but eventually escaped with the assistance of Deuce Bellcamp and Madeline "Sugarbaby" Rothleschilde, two employees who knew of his "job" as The Chosen One. The asylum was completely destroyed during a battle between Dr. West and Ash Williams.

Arkham Asylum was originally created by writer H.P. Lovecraft for his 1933 story: "The Thing on the Doorstep", where it was identified as the Arkham Sanitarium.
