The Boora Witch was an White Martian who was able to possess others, an ability she learned from a book filled with knowledge of the arcane arts. This ability meant that the White Martians had become afraid of her, and thus she was cast out into the Toonolian Marshes. While in the marshes, she found a group of Red Martians searching for metals to dig, so she possessed one of them. The woman she possessed was none other than Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Helium, which allowed her to imprison Tardos Mors and Mors Kajak, allowing her to take control over Helium.
Eventually, Kantos Kan discovered what happened, and thus beheaded The Boora Witch's original body, thus destroying her, allowing Dejah to have control over her own body.
