Dr. Jarrod Keplar was a scientist who lived with his children, Jace and Jan, aboard the Galactic Federation'sSpace Colony Omicron. When the colony was attacked by pirates, Jarrod sent a distress signal to Space Patrol, but the call appeared to go unheard. He was killed immediately afterward by the pirate Tansut. Shortly after his death, Jarrod's children were rescued by the cosmic vigilante known as Space Ghost, who would train Jace and Jan to be his sidekicks in order that they might avenge their father's death.
