Karena was from a village in Hyrkania, but her village was attacked by a group of bandits. Red Sonja then mentored her and the two attacked the bandits, killing all apart from one, who was to spread stories of Black Karena. Shortly after she split from Sonja, she was killed and her head was removed by Suumaro.
