History[]

Following the end of The Great War, Kent Allard became both a spy and pilot for hire, traveling across Europe and Asia for his new line of work. In 1922, he was hired by Lamont Cranston to pilot Cranston's private plane from Shanghai to Yemen. Unknown to Allard, the plane was carrying eight coffins full of Heroin. Following a shootout at the runway, the plane was damaged to the point where it began to lose altitude, and eventually crashed in the Himalayas. Allard awoke after the crash to find both himself and Cranston in the hidden city of Shambala, his body "repaired" by a woman named Rudra Cakrin. After talking with Cakrin about the city and advanced technology within it, Allard discovered Lamont planned to doublecross and kill Cakrin, but managed to kill Cranston first, or so he believed[1].

Using skills taught to him by Cakrin and the other residents of Shambala, Allard returned to the United States in 1931 using Lamont Cranston's name, and became the vigilante known as The Shadow.

In 1949, Allard "retired" as The Shadow and retreated back to Shambala[2]. 35 years later in 1984, he returned to the western world when Allard heard that his former agents were being killed one-by-one. Becoming The Shadow once more, Allard discovered that Lamont Cranston (who managed to avoid death in 1922 when he was rescued by a lost Russian man) was behind the murders. The Shadow then manipulated Cranston's wife into shooting Lamont in the chest, killing him for good.

Following these events, Allard and his sons decided to stay in America for the time being, going on several adventures[3].

After a few more decades of retreating back to Shambala, Allard once again returned to the United States to continue his mission of justice as The Shadow, now posing as Lamont Cranston III[4].
