History[]
Mavis Lockhart was one of the "second generation" agents of The Shadow upon his return to the United States during the 1980s.
Prior to becoming an agent, Lockhart worked in Washington D.C. for the FBI's Crime Statistics Bureau for eight years, though she didn't really enjoy the job. When The Shadow returned to the states, Lockhart was one of the first people to put together that seemingly random murders were actually former Shadow agents, which is what prompted The Shadow to return in the first place. After meeting with the remaining agents in his former estate, "Lamont Cranston" asked Mavis to become his companion and agent, much like Margo Lane had done decades earlier, a proposition she accepted[1].
As an agent, Mavis went on numerous missions alongside The Shadow, occasionally going undercover or in disguise[2]. During the brief period of time in which it was believed that The Shadow had been permanently killed, Mavis, along with three other agents (including her father Harry Vincent) briefly assumed the identity of The Shadow in an attempt to carry on his legacy, though this didn't last long[3].
By the 21st Century, Mavis had become director of The Shadow Network, a technologically advanced, almost military-like incarnation of The Shadow's agents[4].
