Mistress Hel, one of the last in the tribe of Buri Gods, is the living incarnation of death itself in her native universe.
Early History
Very little is known about Mistress Hel's early life, especially any of her activities before the 21st Century, though at one point she encountered the demon known as Purgatori, an encounter which resulted in the two becoming enemies[2].
Reappearance In The 21st Century
After centuries of hiding, Hel made her resurgence in the year 2014. She appeared to the supernatually-enhanced psychopath "Evil Ernie" Fairchild in a series of visions in an attempt to seduce him and encourage him to kill every living creature on Earth. Hel's reasoning for this "Ragnorok" was for Ernie to send the souls of the deceased to her realm, Niflheim, so she can create an army to combat the old Chaos Gods and take over the world[3].
Several individuals discovered Mistress Hel and Evil Ernie's plan, including The Chosen and Purgatori, who united to confront Hel (now walking in the physical world) and Fairchild moments before the planned "Ragnorok" could be completed. Dealing a fatal blow, Purgatori killed Hel's physical body, and sent her back to her realm[4].
Hel's apparent death did not stop her, and while she was back to being trapped in her realm, she would create her own team of "lovers" to go kill Evil Ernie on Earth[5].
Mistress Hel soon became seduced herself (much like she had done with Ernest Fairchild) by Prince Charming, who was planning a full-scale attack on the Multiverse. Hel was one of five women chosen to be in the Prince's personal harem, and one of the generals of his armies[6]. The Prince's plot of conquering the Multiverse was foiled by an army assembled by a witch known as The Traveler[7].
Following the attempted Multiverse take-over, Hel was next seen once again attempting to kill Evil Ernie, this time with the aid of her brother Jormungandr[8][9]. Believing that she successfully killed Fairchild, Hel entered a realm called "The Nightmare Place", where she encountered The Lord of Nightmares: Alice Cooper and The Chosen. Shortly after her arrival, Cooper promptly banishing her to an empty black void[10].

Mistress Hel without her make-up.
- It was revealed in Alice Cooper Vs. Chaos! #5 that Mistress Hel's blue skin and white face is actually make-up, part of ceremonial vestments, and her true skin tone is an average Caucasian/white color.
- Mistress Hel was created as a replacement for Lady Death, the only original Chaos character Dynamite Entertainment was not able to purchase the rights to.
