Synopsis for "The Return of Kulan Gath Part Four: Born Again"Edit

Red Sonja is returning from the summit of Lotus Mountain. Perhaps she lack fear because she didn't know the meaning of blasphemy. The flower blooms every 13 years and she was 13 years old at the time of eating of the black lotus. She fills at home and one with The land itself. She is guided to a cave on to her next heroic deed. She knows that fear and doubt are the enemy of any blessings that she may have from the goddess. Fear not the blanket of darkness: embrace it. She knows the task coming she should not be fearful, and she says "once she was ruined, but now she is reborn... now she is pure." She comes face to fork tongue with a large coiled white pit viper.

Presently snowy mountains and the attack Of the Ice Lord Monster continue. Quillo tells Suumaro to call up the ice birds. Quillo was too overpowered by the Dark God to do so himself, but assured Suumaro of his fatherly love. With that Suumaro slits his tongue and chants "Og dag fal-el." The ice Lord is attacking and the ice is crumbling under Suumaro, but the blood of ice lord and Suumaro ascends to the clouds and the ice birds come. Osin was heard questioning if they're going to have to fight the Leviathan. Red Sonja tells Osin she will show him how to have an Namedian song. With that she strikes down a huge icicle and takes it and drives it into the forehead of the ice lord and the son of the Dark God or as some call Borat-Na Fori, has blood drawn on his forehead as well, and his control is severed. Osin complained about the smell of the birds. They continue on their trek. They come to a place that has hot steamy mist. In this chamber there are stone gods. Quillo says he is no longer encumbered by the shroud of the dark one. Suumaro pulls a feather from his pouch, perhaps from a white owl, and with an enchantment and a flame of fire as he speaks in an unknown tongue, Quillo is released from the will of the dark god. Quillo looks for one last act of redemption. He also utters an enchantment and then gouges his eyes out with his thumbs. There is a lot of blood on the floor and he appears to be dying. with his eyes being gouged it prevents the Dark God from seeing what he has done for Suumaro.

Then the God Kaleval appears. He asked who disturbs him and Red Sonja steps forward. She is speaking with a small voice and he insults them. But Red Sonja raises her voice and states "I am Red Sonja of Hyrkania. And she persists and will not be silent till Kaleval speaks to her. He calls her a little woman and ensnares Suumaro and Osin. Kaleval does not seem kind or merciful. He does not seem interested in the cares of men and says evil arises and goes away as end times past. Red Sonja appears to appeal to the vanity of the god by saying that your name is forgotten and no one speaks of it, but if they were to help, then the bards would praise you and the cities would be called after you. Kaleval speaks for The lords, he says there are many and yet they are one.

He knows that the goddess wants her to retrieve her blade. and Red Sonja tells Kaleval that it is in Hyrkania. As they get ready to depart, Kaleval tells Suumaro to gather forces for the conflict. The ice birds appear, and Calavel and Red Sonja mount his steed and gallop through the clouds. The peoples of Hyrkania see the horse coming and are fearful. And as they arrive even Hyrkania is filled with bloody rivers. Kaleval states this is the work of your dark god, The Borat-Na Fori. He states it was actually bodies that were ground up and flooded the land. Red Sonja proclaims her sword was made of HYRKANIUM, and was key to the riddle of steel. Kaleval can see in the past and see how the land has been cursed with blood. Red Sonja goes to the place where her father died and jumps into the water that is blood red and as she goes down she retrieves the sword.

While still at the site of her family's demise, she asked Kaleval if he knows what happened, and he does. Red Sonja petitions him, 'I need you to help me reclaim myself... my home." Red Sonja does not mention her oath, and there was no being bested in battle but the loving physical act is somewhat involved in her rebirth. A white owl is seen in the branches.

And in the northern lands the fertility ritual continues with the Dark God. He speaks to the steed and how he has made 7 generals to grow within the womb of the horse. And all this Kulan Gath can anxiously see (This is depicted well in the 15-C cover of Mel Rubi, as Kulan Gath Is looking down upon Sonja whom he has in the palm of his hand).

Trivia

The incantation of Suumaro MUINAISET VALPAAT HERRAT! PÄIVIEN VALPAS JUMALA! VALPAS JUMALA, JOKA NUKKUU! is Finnish “ ANCIENT WATCHFUL LORDS! THE WATCHFUL GOD OF DAYS! THE WATCHFUL GOD WHO SLEEPS!“ Irony of the sleeping watchful god!

Quillo in Finnish also: SOKAISKAA SILMÄT SOKAISEE SIELUA! (BLIND THE EYES BLIND THE SOUL!) SOKAISKAA SILMÄT-KIVET! (BLIND THE EYES STONES!) SOKAISKAA SILMÄT JOITA SIELU HERÄÄ! (BLIND THE EYES THAT THE SOUL AWAKES!) See also Vol 1 #23

When Quillo responds to Suumaro after saying “I forgive you father,” he says that a “king does not ask for forgiveness, boy… That is why you will always be a prince” which seemingly insults Suumaro, but he answers in Finnish and, translated means bless you.
