Synopsis for "Long Way Back Home, part 2"Edit
Sonja is about to be thrown over board by the undead pirates and she tells them that she knows their crew did not die, but the captain does not want to hear it. Sonja is thrown overboard and bound with chains begins to sink to the ocean depths. Suumaro offers up him self and recites an enchantment that causes blood to come from his eyes and mouth. (This is similar to the blood sacrifice of his father Quillo.[1] The translated Finnish version:
BLIND THE EYES, BLIND THE EYES! BLIND THE EYES-STONES! BLIND THE EYES, DIE THE SOUL WAKE UP!
With that Suumaro levitates up and over into the ocean down to Sonja. He give her his last breath and his dagger. He drops to the ocean floor not far from one of his drowned choice soldiers, Lhee. Some hands from the sandy ocean floor come up and pull the body of Suumaro beneath the sand.
Meanwhile, back to Scorpion and the crew of Valera, Bock had talked Valera into getting Calibas to use his ability to communicate with animals, to get the horses to drag the ship across the ice in the far northern sea. When the task is finished he takes some of the horses and makes a break for freedom. At the pirate ship the few remaining friends of Suumaro are about to be tossed to the whale god when Caska rises up out the water with his wounded wing.
Red Sonja continues under water, breathing like a chain mail clad mermaid and confronts some under water malevolent beings rising up from the sands that seem to claim some divine allegiance, but Sonja quickly brings an end to any claims they tried to proclaim. Shortly after that she is confronted by a large shark. With underwater adeptness she out manuvvers that shark leaving a fatal blow to the head and leaves the vanquished corpse on the sea bottom for other bottom dwellers to comes the flesh of the beast.

Sonja sees an ancient civilization and ruins probably of Atlantis and in the center the sand begins to open up and reveals a whale coming up with glowing red eyes and a harpoon in his head that seems to still bleed. She looks it straight in the eyes and understands this to be the whale god pursued by the pirates. Before the confrontation can be realized, Kulan Gath again has to proclaim his greatness in subjugation of the world and hoe beneficent he is to the inhabitants to his captive audience of the goddess. She does. It seem impressed.
Trivia
Suumaro was introduced in Red Sonja: She-Devil with a Sword in the Marvel series. He was born of a union between a goddess of the nether world, Apah Alah, and a mortal king Quillos. The origin of his abilities and ending are somewhat different in Dynamite.
