Synopsis for "Tide Turns"Edit
Sonja and Osin return to Fa after nearly being beheaded by Solath. Fa Apologizes and states that he knew Solath from his childhood and would have trusted her with his life. They learn that the Zedda have come to Fa for help as The Celestial One has buried their villages under water to purify them with a great number of women and children killed. The Zedda do not like aligning themselves with men, but were willing to do so because of the great loss of life and their thirst for the Celestial One's blood. One of the Zedda had lost an eye to Sonja in a previous conflict and would not submit to a woman being over them in battle. He challenged her and she quickly drew his blood on her dagger and asked if any other challengers would arise, but they submitted to her skill and their thirst for blood of the Celestial One. The Zedda agree to help attack the city of Gathia while Fa and his troops create a diversion at the gate. One of the Zedda who escaped from the fortress, Borg, would accompany Sonja and Osin where they would secretly enter the lower levels of the Fortress. Fa states the real battle would be for Sonja and Osin, and Sonja replies that the deaths and conflict would seem very real to the Zedda. As they wait for the coming of dawn Osin discusses the legends of Sonja including her oath to not have relations with a man unless bested in battle. Osin tries to make his way into The lore of Sonja's songs by grabbing her hair and trying to best her in battle, but she easily subdued him and stated his effort was not even

worth a kiss. In the early morning the Zedda attack the front line and oil is poured upon them and they are set ablaze by the guards on top of the fortress. The Celestial One is seen telling a lone child to go off to the sacrifice chamber while he takes care of the immediate problem. The Zedda assault allows Borg and Osin along with Red Sonja to gain entrance via a tree that is said to have grown up in a year that left an opening in the fortress itself. Borg says the reason it grew so quick was because of all the human sacrifices and blood. Red Sonja and her crew are then confronted by members of the captain's guard. One of them had witnessed her death earlier (perhaps Duluthian) and states he would rejoice to see it again! In the battle there was an onslaught of arrows and Borg took most of them but in the end all the guards were slain. Osin and Sonja are

helping Borg even pulling out some of the arrows in his abdomen and jaw, as he vows to continue to fight to the end. Osin for his part wants to have the spelling of his name correct by the bards who will tell of his heroic deeds. They are at the base of the tower and hear some voices coming from a cell, it appears to be children that are chained up. As they enter the door closes behind them and it is revealed a demonic horde of children approaching them running to secure the blood as a sacrifice for the Celestial One. The children themselves was something that was repulsive for Red Sonja to kill even though they were hideously demon spawned. Red Sonja does not kill children because of her history of her herself suffering so much loss.
